Agathon Léonard was a French sculptor active from the late 19th to the early 20th century, best known for his sculptures of female figures and dancers. Among them, the centerpiece Scarf Dance is now regarded as an iconic work of Art Nouveau. Léonard’s bronze sculptures were cast by the Susse Frères Éditeurs foundry. His works were exhibited at major Parisian exhibitions, including the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, and are still held today in prominent European museum collections, among them the Musée d’Orsay.
