The Three Sages of Huayan symbolize the teachings of the Avatamsaka Sutra. The group consists of Vairocana Buddha at the center, flanked by the bodhisattvas Manjushri and Samantabhadra. Manjushri represents wisdom, while Samantabhadra represents practice and spiritual cultivation. Together, they form an important subject in Buddhist art.

This work depicts the Three Sages of Huayan across three hanging scrolls. The central scroll portrays the Buddha seated on a lotus throne, while the two side scrolls depict the bodhisattvas. Gold and vivid colors are used for the halos, garments, and pedestals, with elaborate decoration throughout. The solemn figures stand out against the deep blue background.
