Masuda Makoto is a Western-style painter from Yamanashi Prefecture who moved to Paris after the war and remained there for many years, building a reputation within the French art world's exhibition system. Widely known for his vivid depictions of the everyday life of downtown streets and people's activities using bright colors and light brushstrokes, he is known for his warm gaze at the beauty of ordinary landscapes. He established a foundation for his work, winning numerous awards overseas and becoming a member of several salons, including the Salon d'Automne. In his later years, he returned to Japan and began working on landscapes of Mount Fuji. He also left a legacy of recognition linked to the memories of his hometown, such as being named an honorary citizen of Tsuru City.
