Hiroshi Furuyoshi is a contemporary Japanese painter known for his highly refined realism. After being selected for the Hiroshima Prefectural Art Exhibition in 1979, he graduated from Kyoto College of Art in 1980 and continued his training at the Daitoku-ji Painting Institute, where he developed a distinctive pictorial world grounded in solid draftsmanship and meticulous depiction of figures and still lifes. In Japan, he has maintained a sustained exhibition practice primarily through department stores and galleries, while also establishing international recognition. His awards—first prize in the Portrait category at the Art Renewal Center (ARC) International Competition in 2005 and Best in Show in 2009—stand as landmark achievements, demonstrating that his work has been acknowledged within global standards of evaluation. The inclusion of his portrait of Dr. Mineichirō Adachi in the collection of the International Court of Justice in The Hague further underscores the public standing and credibility of his oeuvre.
